I am an engineer (physics, electronics and computer science) retired from a an R&D Engineering Manager position within an international group, in the Digital Solutions & Information Systems (DSIS) department. I lead an international team and specialist in Business Process Modeling and Knowledge Management, focusing on digital innovation.
Since 2029, I am deeply engaged in ecological and social transition, connecting local citizen action, European cooperation, and democratic innovation.
I am Co-President of the citizen association “Val-de-Marne en Transition” and Co-President of the local initiative “Sucy Environnement Transition”, both working to strengthen territorial resilience, social justice and citizen empowerment.
I also serve as regional representative of the international Transition Network for Paris Île-de-France (Paris Region Hub), one of the national hubs of the global Transition Network International founded by Rob Hopkins.
In addition, I represent the Collectif pour une Transition Citoyenne (CTC) within the European NGO ECOLISE, which brings together community-led initiatives for sustainability and just transition across Europe.
I am involved in European projects, including Municipalities in Transition, a European initiative created by the Transition Network to support municipalities in developing participatory and deliberative democracy, particularly on ecological transition issues. This work mobilizes approaches such as Sociocracy 3.0, Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and research-based methods for complexity management and collective intelligence.
My long-standing interest in political philosophy led me to create a personal blog (jeanpaulgrange.name), where I write on three main areas:
- ecological and social transition,
- a philosophical framework based on awareness and reason (Evolution Orange),
- democratic innovation through the Municipalities in Transition approach.
I also initiated the EcoFashion 94 project within Val-de-Marne en Transition, aiming to reduce the environmental and social negative impact of the textile sector at local level. This project is supported by broader European programs such as Shared Green Deal (SGD) and Communities for Climate (C4C) and the Banque de France.
Through my work, activism and writing, I seek to bridge engineering rigor, systems thinking, citizen engagement and institutional transformation, with a strong focus on addressing root causes rather than symptoms.
